I’ve been with Builders’ General for 38 years now. The camaraderie, the family environment, the loyalty, it’s why I’ve stayed here. It’s a lot of hard work, but very rewarding when you work for a family owned business.
They truly value and care for their employees. I had to have emergency surgery and they made a point to make sure they called me to see if I was doing okay. They were by my side and supported me every step of the way, and that is something you normally don’t see in a corporation.
The Builders’ General family are good and honest people to work for. They take care of the people that work for them and as a result of that people come and stay with the company a very long time.
You have that sense of security that you’re coming to work for a company that’s been around for 90 years. There’s not a lot of companies now that can say that, and we’re one of them. That should give you a sense of pride. We have a lot of people that are 5-year, 10-year, 15-year… into 30 years. To see how many people stay for that long says a lot about the company.
The best part about my job is our customers – the customers that come here just to come here; just to stop in and say hi. It’s got to be the best job I’ve ever had. We all get along as a big family, whether you’re from ownership or yard personnel, we are all equal.
