It may seem fairly obvious, but no contractor can ever have too many tools. There are probably plenty of times you have thought “I could really use a new impact drill” or “if I only had a set of cordless tools, I would be able to get projects done so much quicker”.
Storage
Having a lot of tools is great; but not if you can’t find what you are looking for. How often have you wasted an hour searching through your truck or your shed trying to find a tool that you really need? Wouldn’t that hour have been better spent on the job site finishing the project?
When it comes to storage, bigger isn’t always better. If the majority of the time you are working directly out of your truck, you obviously don’t want a huge tool cart taking up valuable space; or, if you have a tool shed or storage warehouse, a small tool bag isn’t going to be that much help either. Knowing exactly where your tools are can save you hours of time over the course of a year, so make sure you choose wisely to get the most out of your storage equipment.

Staying organized can be a really difficult task, especially if you are managing multiple projects at once. From estimates to floor plans to contracts, there can be a lot of paper for each project. And when you need to make a final decision, you may need to reference all of those different items quickly.
For this exact reason, an organizing tool could be a huge help. For the less digitally inclined, a leather-bound organizational folder can help store everything in a central location. For the more digital savvy contractors, you may want to do some research into apps that can help you keep all of your information in one easy to find place.
