This Father’s Day weekend, it’s time to step up and give Dad a break from his usual chores! Here are some of the most tedious things you can take off his plate, giving him extra time to relax on his special day:

1. Clean The Garage/Shed

Your garage and/or shed serve as valuable storage space for items not used on a daily basis. Although it serves a great purpose for your home, it can become cluttered fast! Take the time this weekend to organize the area, sorting into sections such as a workbench area, gardening and lawn equipment area, sports equipment, toys and fishing gear, for example.

2. Wash His Car

Being there for the family doesn’t always leave much time to for dad to take care of his car the way he wants to. This Father’s Day, surprise Dad by hand washing his car! When you’re done, wipe down and vacuum the inside.

3. Clean The Deck

Sweep the deck and pressure wash it clean! Prepare a solution of sudsy water using the laundry detergent or read the instructions on the commercial cleaner. Apply whatever you are using for a cleaner to the deck. Use a long handled brush with stiff bristles or a push broom to scrub. Begin at one end of the deck and work your way across the entire surface. Rinse the entire deck with the garden hose to remove the cleaning solution!

4. Lawn Maintenance

If all the lawn and garden care usually falls on Dad, give him a hand by taking over his yard work duties for the day. He’ll appreciate the extra time to relax and enjoy the sunshine!

5. Clean The Grill

After barbecuing his favorite food, top off his special dinner by cleaning the grill! Tackling the grease and grime of a grill isn’t easy, but it will be a nice treat for dad to start with a clean surface next time he’s cooking!

6. Organize His Tools/Toolbox

Dad has tons of tools and supplies, and it’s easy to get everything jumbled up when he’s working on a project. This Father’s Day weekend, help him organize his toolbox and his workbench so that working is more efficient, stress-free and more fun for him the next time!

7. Organize His Clothes

Staying organized isn’t always a top priority for busy dads. It would really help make Dad’s life a little easier if you set aside some time to clean and organize his sock drawer, T-shirts, and shoes! It’s a small but thoughtful gesture that makes a big difference in his busy life.

Already have plans this weekend? No worries, you can still make “chore vouchers” that he can redeem all Summer long! It’s the gift that keeps on giving!
